A portrait is a representation of a person. The intent is to display the mood of the person and engage the subject with the viewer. Hence, a portrait is usually a composed image of a person in a still position. I say a portrait is the wreckage of something that is no longer. The hue fades and the paper wrinkles, like skin. And the person in the portrait ages in bleached colours and paper wrinkles. The beauty of a portrait rests in the fact that it is also a living thing! Gonçalo Cunha de Sá
